A tactical beat ’em up that has previously spent time locked up on PC and Nintendo Switch, Treachery in Beatdown City will soon be coming to Xbox consoles – and it’ll be hitting hard with three times the amount of content currently available.

Announced today at the NY Game Awards, Treachery in Beatdown City has not just got a full Xbox release date, but confirmation that when it does arrive on the big black (and white) Microsoft boxes, it’ll deliver a whole host of content on top of what PC and Switch players are used to.

It’s due to arrive come April 27th 2023, as Treachery in Beatdown City launches on Xbox consoles for the very first time, allowing a new section of the gaming world the chance to take in the tactical beat ’em up mechanics that it has fast become renowned for. Expect to explore an urban wasteland, beating down those who get in your way, utilising a variety of RPG elements, wrestling styles and strategic tactical calls as you go.

It’s the Ultra Remix form which will allow this to happen, running free to existing Treachery in Beatdown City owners on Nintendo Switch and PC as it launches on Xbox. This brings eight new maps, more than eighty new enemies, all-new attack moves and defensive gameplay styles, additional music and more. Yes, three times the original content is no lie.

If you’re unaware of the game, then Treachery in Beatdown City turns the traditional beat ‘em up on its head, making the most of a mixture of classic beat ‘em up mechanics and smart humour. It gives the opportunity to play as three unlikely, yet incredible, everyday heroes with their own unique combat abilities as they scour Beatdown City to save the kidnapped President Blake Orama.

“Three years ago, we released Treachery in Beatdown City, which saw many years of turmoil in our lives, into the world on fire. A lot of people saw something special in the game and we were very lucky for that. Treachery in Beatdown City has always been an extremely personal project, and I was very proud of the work we accomplished,” said Shawn Alexander Allen, lead designer. “Now we’re making it even better, and we’re finishing off a story that is very near and dear to my heart. I’m excited for all of our fans, and everyone who’s never played it before to get a look at the most important game of my career.”

Get set for Treachery in Beatdown City and the Ultra Remix DLC come April 27th 2023 on Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. If you can’t wait that long, hit up the Nintendo eShop or Steam pages.

We’ll be sure to let you know when it arrives. And we’ll drop a full Xbox review of the game around the same time.

You may as well give the original release date trailer a watch too.
