A new leak suggests that Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific may get a couple of franchise’s highest-profile crossovers yet: Marvel hero Captain America—yes, Steve Rogers himself—and archeologist treasure hunter Indiana Jones. According to a couple of datamined text strings within Vanguard’s files, both of these Operators will arrive as part of an “American Heroes” event.

While S4 seems to indicate that the event will take place in Season Four (not expected until June), the leaker/dataminer calrifies that S4 is code for Vanguard, with S being Sledgehammer, and 4 denoting their fourth game. There is also what appears to be artwork for playercards related to these two potential Operator packs, which we won’t be posting as many have had takedown notices issued for showing it (which ironically seems to legitimize the leak’s veracity).
Tom Henderson corroborated the leaked datamine, adding that Disney (who owns both Captain America and Indiana Jones) and Activision have been in talks about potential partnerships, but indicates that details are still vague on what the event will entail.
Strings of code sent to me by @CoDPerseus_ seem to indicate some kind of event, but it’s unclear on exact details and when the event will be.

Both Captain America and Indiana Jones would feel right at home within Vanguard and Warzone Pacific’s WWII-era settings and heroic themes, both being Nazi punchers who despise fascists. The notable names might also be an enormous surge of adrenaline for both Vanguard and getting people to check out the new free-to-play Warzone Pacific and its Caldera map. This datamined leak comes shortly after text strings were found alluding to a crossover with Attack on Titan, as well as what seems to be Krampus Operator that we’ll be getting around Christmas.
All of this is unconfirmed at this point, but comes from reputable leakers and dataminers with solid track records for getting this kind of stuff right. Sledgehammer is currently marching towards Season One, but we should hear more soon as December approaches.
The past couple years of Call of Duty have been no stranger to crossovers as the free-to-play Warzone and each year’s connected premium title dabble in the Fortnite model of live service crossovers with other properties. The likes of Die Hard, Rambo, Saw, Donnie Darko, Scream, and more have all made their way into the various games, with Operators, weapons, skins, and other cosmetics based on the properties they pull from.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now. Warzone Pacific is set to launch on December 2 with Season One of Vanguard.
