There’s massive excitement for the upcoming launch of F1 2021 from Codemasters, not only as it’ll be interesting to see how they build on the already brilliant F1 2020, but will confirm whether or not EA have managed to start flexing their muscles after acquiring the racing specialists. Much of that excitement revolves around the arrival of the Braking Point story experience though, and it’s with that where the latest F1 2021 details are focused.

F1 2021 isn’t just about the on-track racing action and whilst we can’t wait to pit Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton up against each other like they are doing in the real world sport, the new thrilling story that will be present is certainly one that shouldn’t be missed.

Codemasters have gone to great lengths to ensure that this is one quality addition to the racing agenda and Braking Point will be found featuring a cast of characters – both old and new – who will help deliver the immersion as you take a shot at stardom.

Present and correct will be Aiden Jackson, the young star who is looking to take on his first full F1 season. Having moved through the ranks, working the F2 scene before being given the opportunity to race with the best of them, Jackson is most certainly the next F1 rookie who has a huge amount of promise.

His teammate will also play a role and in Casper ‘Cas’ Akkerman, Braking Point has a virtual equivalent of Kimi ‘Iceman’ Räikkönen. Complete with a no nonsense approach to both racing and life in general, Akkerman is attempting to prove himself alongside his younger teammate – and if he doesn’t, his career could well be over.

There’s more though and any good story needs a proper old antagonist and in F1 terms, there is no one fit for the job more than Devon Butler. Already seen as a living legend – at least in his eyes – Butler is loud, brash cocky and up for a fight, both on and off the track. He’s a guy that fans of F1 will either love or loathe.

Braking Point will also introduce us to Brain Doyle, the team principal along with Zoe Akkerman, the wife of Cas. How they both play a part in proceedings will be decided by your decision making and choices that are made.

You may not think that you need any narrative in a racing experience, but Codemasters, EA and F1 2021 are here to prove otherwise. Of course, there will also be plenty of other gameplay opportunities to involve yourself in with a two-player Career, split-screen racing, a Real-Season Start and My Team just the beginning of it.

You’ll find F1 2021 releasing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam come July 16th 2021. Grabbing the Deluxe Edition will get you on the grid some 3 days earlier than that, plus it’ll give you seven of the most iconic drivers in F1 history to play around with.
