Astralis teams up with Blux to develop blue light glasses

European organisation Astralis has partnered with glasses manufacturer Blux to develop a range of four blue light glasses designed for gamers.

The glasses are available to purchase on Kickstarter, with certain pledges offering product discounts.

According to the release, the ‘VIZOR’ range, which was developed in Scandinavia, offers a ‘minimalistic and clean approach, combining functionality with fashion, power with comfort’.

Kasper Hvidt, Sports Director at Astralis, commented, ”Astralis players always make sure to moderate their screen time and get the most out of their sleep – Blux blue light blockers are going to be a huge part of that. I think all our athletes could use VIZORs. If every player can improve even just one percent, the whole team improves by five percent. The right line of gaming glasses could keep us well-rested and really do some good work for us.”

As well as working alongside Astralis, the announcement cites that the range had the input of ‘thousands of gamers worldwide’ during its development.  

Kristian Møller, Co-founder of Blux, commented, “We are incredibly proud to enter into a partnership with an industry leader like Astralis. At Blux, we have always wanted to get into the esports market, and just like Astralis, we have international ambitions. This collaboration allows us to do both, and VIZORs will allow gamers across borders, age, gender, and experience to improve their performance as well as their health.”

The VIZOR Ultimate, Ultimate carbon, Stealth X and Blade gaming glasses are available at an RRP of €110 (~£94.54). The Ultimate ‘premium carbon and titanium’ product is valued at an RRP of €250 (~£214.87).

As of this writing, approximately $20,800 (~$14,700) has been pledged on Kickstarter since it began on June 8th.

Blux joins an Astralis commercial portfolio that includes the likes of Esportal, HP, and Universal Music Group, among others.

Esports Insider says: Blue light glasses are starting to become more prominent in the esports and gaming industry, especially with more of a focus being put on player wellbeing. Considering the campaign’s impressive start on Kickstarter, it seems that having blue light glasses designed specifically for gaming is proving to be a smart business decision by Blux.
